Ruby on Rails Developers

We’re looking for someone with a passion for programming and for writing beautiful code. If you never think about code after 5:01pm, if you haven’t read a book about programming since you left school, or if you are not excited by the idea of a technical interview where we pepper you with questions about algorithms, please do not apply.

• You should have significant experience with both Ruby and Rails development. Topics that we’d expect you to be able to talk intelligently about include: test-first vs. test-last development, the strengths and weaknesses of ActiveRecord, the pros and cons of REST, and why skinny controllers and fat models are a Good Thing.
• You should have significant database experience. ORM is great, but if you can’t also roll your own SQL, draw an ERD, and talk a bit about query optimization techniques then we might not be a great fit for each other.
• You should have significant object-oriented programming experience. We’ll want you to be able to talk to us about inheritance and encapsulation and polymorphism. Oh my!
• We want folks who enjoy working in a fast-paced, creative environment. You’ll need to be able to demonstrate a capacity for learning new skills, a history of delivering work on time and on budget, and the ability to thrive under deadline pressure.
• We’re huge fans of pair programming, code reviews, and talking with each other every day about how to make our code just a little bit better. Exceptional communication skills, an eagerness to learn from others in an ego-free environment, and the ability to tolerate incessant movie quotes and really bad jokes are all essential.
